South East Queensland Gathering September 2015

The focus is to make the 2015 Gathering welcoming, fun and interesting; showcasing Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast – we want to WOW the participants!

The Gathering will start Thursday September 17, 2015 with 2 full days at the Gold Coast.

Guests will then travel by boat from the Gold Coast to Brisbane where a packed 9 days of activities awaits them. The activities will include an Indigenous Welcome to Country ceremony; a bus trip to Toowoomba during the Carnival of Flowers; a trip to Lone Pine to see koalas; a trip to the Sunshine Coast; and a dazzling Brisbane Riverfire finale.

There will be optional excursions as well.

Costing is underway but as the Gathering is 15 months away, most prices at this stage are approximate.

Both pre and post Gathering trips will be offered to the guests and our local members are encouraged to join in.   Currently an Outback Rail tour before the Gathering and a Brisbane to north Queensland trip after the Gathering are being considered as they offer both country and coast to visitors.

Pre Tour:  (Outback Rail Tour)

Day 1:  Depart 12th September for Longreach and Winton on “Spirit of the Outback”, sleep overnight in either Single Sleeping Birth, or Twin Sleeping Berth (full use of Cpt. Starlights Lounge Car and Tuckerbox Dining Carriage)

Day 2:  Scenic cruise on Thomson River, sunset drinks and nibbles.  Travel to local watering hole and settle around the campfire for Larrikins and Legends show.  Outback themed dinner.

Day 3:  Dinosaur Exhibition, Waltzing Matilda Centre and explore Winton.

Day 4:  Strathmore Station, and after lunch, Australian Tent Show.

Day 5:  Stockman’s Hall of Fame, Qantas Museum and farewell BBQ.

Day 6:  17th September after lunch fly back to Brisbane with Qantas.

All meals and accommodation are included.
